Jupp Heynckes has ordered Arturo Vidal to fly back to Munich as the new Bayern coach begins his fourth spell in charge of the German champions, according to reports in Germany.
Vidal, 30, played under Heynckes' tutelage at Bayer Leverkusen between 2009 and 2011, scoring 14 goals and providing 14 assists in 76 games.
The midfielder is suspended for Chile's final World Cup qualifier against Brazil on Tuesday and Kicker reported the 72-year-old had told Vidal to fly back to Munich to begin preparations for Bayern's next Bundesliga game.
Bayern play their first game under Heynckes against Freiburg on Saturday after bringing their former manager back to replace the departed Carlo Ancelotti.
Meanwhile, following reports at the weekend that Manuel Neuer could be out for at least six months with his latest foot fracture, Heynckes confirmed Sven Ulreich would keep his place in goal despite a succession of high-profile mistakes in recent games.
"Ulreich will remain in goal, but I'm happy to have an excellent backup in Tom Starke," he said.
Heynckes has brought in Hermann Gerland, who will leave his post as head of Bayern's academy until the end of the season, and Fortuna Dusseldorf assistant coach Peter Hermann as his backroom staff.
Hermann, 65, and Gerland, 63, were both part of Heynckes' staff in Bayern's 2013 Treble-winning season, the most successful season in the club's history, when they won the Champions League beating Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at Wembley.
Heynckes, who will officially be unveiled for his fourth term at a news conference at the Allianz Arena on Monday, added: "I'm looking forward to the old and new task and happy that I have my desired backup team. This gives me a great feeling."
Despite nearly five decades of experience as a player and a coach, Heynckes admits he has taken on "a difficult task." However, he added: "Without Bayern I would never had this career as a coach -- I had to give something back."
The former Real Madrid coach had not yet decided on a fixed playing system: "Whether it's 4-2-3-1 [which Bayern used extensively in 2013] or a 4-3-3 that's open to interpretation," he said.
