Bayern Munich arrive late for Singapore ICC, cancel training session

Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich cancelled training after a delayed arrival into Singapore on Sunday evening, ahead of Tuesday's International Champions Cup (ICC) clash with Chelsea.

Bayern touched down two hours late, and promptly called off a planned session at Geylang Field.

Chelsea had landed in the early hours of Sunday morning, with Inter Milan -- the third team at the ICC Singapore -- expected on Tuesday morning.

After four days in Shanghai and two in Shenzhen, Bayern will spend most of the week in Singapore, departing after Thursday night's match against Inter.

The German champions were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd of around 100 fans at the JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach after arriving by chartered bus from Changi Airport.

The likes of Mats Hummels, Thomas Muller, Franck Ribery and Robert Lewandowski stopped to sign autographs, while new signing James Rodriguez simply acknowledged the crowd with a wave.

Coached by Carlo Ancelotti, Bayern have brought along a strong squad for the first-ever ICC in Singapore. However, the fans will not get to see Manuel Neuer, Arjen Robben and Jerome Boateng, with the trio staying behind in Munich for recovery sessions.

Spanish left-back Juan Bernat will also play no part in the upcoming two games after travelling back for treatment after sustaining ligament damage to his ankle in the 4-0 defeat to AC Milan on Saturday.

The Bavarian side will train at Singapore's National Stadium on Monday evening before taking on Chelsea on the iconic venue the following night.

Throughout their five days in Singapore, their players will also be involved in various cultural and promotion activities, aimed at engaging local fans in a Premier League-obsessed city.

Ancelotti's side are coming off the back of two disappointing results, having lost to English FA Cup winners Arsenal 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time before the Milan thrashing.

After the ICC Singapore, they will prepare to take on arch rivals Borussia Dortmund in the German Supercup on Aug. 6.
