Manuel Neuer will miss Bayern Munich's next two games after picking up a foot injury in training.
Neuer, who turned 31 on Monday, had to depart the session on Wednesday and immediately underwent a small operation on his left foot.
Bundesliga leaders Bayern confirmed the news on Thursday morning, with Neuer to miss Saturday's Bavarian derby against Augsburg and Tuesday's trip to fourth-placed Hoffenheim. Neuer also had to sit out Germany's internationals against England and Azerbaijan last week with a calf injury.

The Bayern goalkeeper took to Twitter after the operation, writing: "Everything went well. Working hard now to quickly return to the side."
Neuer's former Bayern teammate and international colleague Toni Kroos wished him well on Twitter, writing: "Get well soon, but do take your time."
Meanwhile, Bayern winger Douglas Costa had to break off his individual training session on Wednesday as he began his recovery from a knee injury.
Costa only received the all-clear from the club the previous day, saying that he would not need knee surgery.
However, after trying to sprint in the sandpit with Bayern fitness trainers in attendance on Tuesday, Bild reported the Brazil international had to abort the session clutching his knee.
