Bayern Munich open new Shanghai office to cater for growing fanbase

Bayern Munich have announced the opening of an office in Shanghai to cater for their followers in China.

Jorg Wacker, Bayern's director for internationalisation and strategy, said the Bavarians "have a broad fan base in China with more than 136 million followers."

He added: "We'll offer the Chinese market the right solutions, particularly in youth football, in the rapidly developing football world.

"We will also join with our partners to create special offers for our Chinese fans, making FC Bayern a more tangible experience."

Bayern opened their first overseas office in New York almost three years ago, and CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge said the new Chinese operation "allows us to intensify our contact with the fans."

He added: "We've had nothing but wonderful experiences on our previous trips to China, and we've felt the high esteem our club enjoys here."

Bundesliga leaders Bayern will tour China and Singapore in the summer and have games lined up against Arsenal, Chelsea and both AC and Inter Milan in July.

Meanwhile, Wolfsburg have opened an office in Peking as their Chinese fanbase increases.
