Pep Guardiola predicts Champions League glory for Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola has tipped Bayern Munich to win the Champions League in the next few years after failing to land the trophy in his three years at the club.

Speaking as Bayern staged a second celebratory party of the summer at the Bavarian capital's town hall on Sunday, Guardiola said farewell to fans and told them they would not have to wait too long to celebrate a Champions League triumph.

"I'm sure that Bayern are going to bring the Champions League back to Munich again in the next few years,'' said the Catalan, who won the Bundesliga in each of his three seasons at the club and the DFB Pokal in two of them.

"It's been an incredibly nice time here and I would like to thank Germany, and above all the city of Munich, on behalf of my family.

"I'm going to miss all of my players.''

Manchester City-bound Guardiola could not hold back the tears after his side won the DFB Pokal on penalties on Saturday, praising the players for making his three years in Munich so memorable.

Carlo Ancelotti, who has won the Champions League with AC Milan and Real Madrid, will look to succeed where Guardiola failed by winning Europe's ultimate prize with a third club when he takes over at Bayern next season.

They were knocked out in the semifinals -- by Real Madrid, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid -- in each of Guardiola's seasons there.
