Luis Enrique will leave a permanent legacy at Barcelona - Del Bosque

Luis Enrique will leave Barcelona a legend regardless of what happens between now and the end of the season, says former Spain coach Vicente del Bosque.

After three years in the Camp Nou dugout, Barca coach Luis Enrique will step down from his post at the club when his contract expires in June.

In his first season in charge he won the Treble and then followed it up in his second campaign with the double, while another Treble remains on the cards this year after last week's stunning comeback against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

"Beyond the three titles which he can still win this season, Luis Enrique has already won so many titles that he will leave a permanent legacy," Del Bosque told RAC1.

"He's given such high levels of performance to the club as both a coach and a player. He leaves with a trail of glory."

When Luis Enrique revealed he would walk away from the Catalan club in the summer, they looked set to be eliminated from the Champions League by PSG.

However, last Wednesday's incredible turnaround ensured a place in the quarterfinals and breathed fresh life back into their hopes of winning an historic third Treble.

"I watched Barcelona's comeback at home," the former Real Madrid coach admitted.

"I'm from the football world, I respect the game and I've been part of Spanish football. So I really enjoyed Barca's turnaround against PSG in the same way that I was disappointed that Sevilla couldn't get through [against Leicester City].

"That's football. When [Edinson] Cavani scored it looked over, but football's emotional and sometimes illogical things happen and [Barca] were able to recover from that defeat in Paris."

Del Bosque stepped down as Spain boss after last summer's failed European Championship campaign and, just in case there were any doubts, reaffirmed his plan not to go back into coaching.

"I'm not going to coach [again]," he added when it was jested that he could replace Luis Enrique.

"I'm feeling great and I'm not suffering from any nostalgia. When I left Real Madrid I already said that I would not train Barca or Atletico Madrid."
