Luis Enrique plays down Andres Iniesta's influence on Barcelona

Luis Enrique was delighted with Barcelona's performance against Borussia Monchengladbach on Tuesday, but played down the suggestion Andres Iniesta's comeback has prompted his side's return to form.

Iniesta came off the bench in the Clasico over the weekend and started against the Bundesliga side in a 4-0 win as Arda Turan scored a hat trick after Lionel Messi had opened the scoring with his 10th goal in this season's Champions League.

With Iniesta injured for six weeks, Barca failed to win four of seven games, but he was pivotal against Gladbach, completing 108 of 119 passes before being withdrawn just before the hour mark.

"Statistics in football sometimes make very little sense," Luis Enrique responded when asked about Iniesta's passing numbers from the game and the significance his captain has on the team's style of play.

"Iniesta is a player capable of beating a man with the ball, finding passes between the lines ... he added what Iniesta always adds, but the team have had the same ideas as always.

"I am satisfied with the speed of the circulation of the ball. We played nearly the whole game in the opposition half.

"The players had a lot to lose but I think it was one of the games we've been most precise in, in terms of ball circulation, which is good news. We want to continue in this manner and improve, above all, at Camp Nou."

With Barca already guaranteed top spot in Group C, Luis Enrique gave minutes to players who have not featured much recently.

Turan seized his opportunity by scoring a treble, while Aleix Vidal impressed at right-back, but it was another disappointing night for striker Paco Alcacer, who's now without a goal in 11 Barca appearances.

"This year [Turan] is scoring a lot of goals when he wasn't noted as a finisher before," the Barca boss said.

"Vidal, too, is taking advantage of the minutes he's had. He was at the level required by Barca, good with and without the ball. He won back the ball, showed good anticipation, made one of the goals ... it was a complete performance.

"And Paco [Alcacer] looked good; he was at a good level. He set up a goal and I'm sure the goal will arrive."
