Luis Enrique: Barcelona's Liverpool defeat 'definitely wasn't our best day'

Barcelona manager Luis Enrique admitted that his side were not at their best as they fell to a 4-0 defeat to Liverpool in the International Champions Cup on Saturday.

Sadio Mane opened the scoring for Liverpool in the first half, and a Javier Mascherano own goal followed by a Divock Origi strike just after the break put the Premier League side in full contract at Wembley.

It may only have been a preseason friendly, but Luis Enrique was concerned by the number of errors made by his team, who kick their own season off in the Spanish Super Cup against Sevilla next weekend.

"It definitely wasn't our best day," Luis Enrique said. "We made a number of errors. After the first goal we had chances, but then we let in two quick goals and that was the match.

"But as a spectacle, for the fans and the stadium, we have to look at the positive side of things.

"It was nice to see the affection the Liverpool have for Luis [Suarez], and it was a shame he couldn't score."

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic said the result meant nothing except that Liverpool are farther along in their preperation for the season.

"It is clear that today we needed some more players back, to reach the level that Liverpool were playing at," Rakitic said.

"We have to remember, and it is the most important thing, that it is preseason and not an official game. It is never good to lose, even in training sessions I want to win, but this is football.

"We have to work hard to arrive at our best level because the Supercopa is coming up, so we have to work hard to prepare.

"We had a good run around, nothing more."
