Newcastle United keeper Tim Krul has joined AZ Alkmaar on loan after cutting short his deal with fellow Eredivisie side Ajax.
The 28-year-old made a temporary switch to Ajax at the start of the campaign in a bid to regain form and fitness after missing most of 2015-16 through injury.
Krul, however, was unable to dislodge Andre Onana from the No. 1 spot at the Amsterdam ArenA and decided to leave the club in pursuit of first-team action.

"AZ is a fantastic club," Krul told the club's website. "They compete for prizes in the league, the cup and in Europe, and they are doing just fine.
"When they called, I could hardly say no. They have put so much confidence in me that I decided to come.
"I have been fit for a while, but have been unable to really show it yet. I hope to regain my former level."
