Atletico Madrid must be ready for Real test in UCL final - Antoine Griezmann

Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann has said his team's impressive progress to the Champions League final would guarantee nothing when they face Real Madrid in Milan next weekend.

France international Griezmann has hit 32 goals for Atletico in all competitions this season, scoring as Barcelona and Bayern Munich were seen off in the quarterfinals and semifinals respectively.

But the 24-year-old said knocking out those two teams would not count for anything if they did not produce another big performance against their city rivals.

Speaking at Atletico's open media day, he warned: "Just because we beat Bayern and Barca, it does not mean we will win the final.

"We must be confident and play at 100 percent, as it will be a very tough game. All Madrid's players are very strong, they are always up there with the best.

"The important thing is to be ready, mentally and physically, to play a good game."

Earlier, Atletico coach Diego Simeone had said Griezmann was among the world's three best players, having learned and improved in his two seasons at the club.

Griezmann said: "That is a nice thing for him to say. The truth is I try and give my best in every game, and I hope I can keep going like this.

"Before the season I said I wanted to improve on last year, and I have done that. Next year I will do the same. On the pitch I try and give everything and learn from what the coach tells me."

The forward said he believed substitutions by Simeone and his Real counterpart Zinedine Zidane could be vital.

"Each one will have their tactics, their words before the games and at half-time will be important, the changes too," he added.

"Our substitutes must be ready to come in and change the game."
