Radamel Falcao upbeat after preseason goals for Monaco

Monaco's Radamel Falcao has said he is feeling in good shape after returning to the Ligue 1 side following a disappointing two-year spell in the Premier League.

Colombian striker Falcao, 30, has spent the last two seasons on loan at Manchester United and then Chelsea.

Falcao scored just one Premier League goal for Chelsea last year and made only one league start during his time at Stamford Bridge.

But the former Atletico Madrid front man has been in fine form for Monaco in preseason. He scored a brace in their 4-1 win over Sporting Lisbon last week and got the principality club's goal in their 3-1 defeat against Zenit St Petersburg on Tuesday.

Speaking before the game against Zenit in Switzerland, Falcao said he is enjoying his football ahead of Monaco's Champions League qualifier against Fenerbahce next week.

"I'm very happy to be back in Monaco," he told the club's official website. "It's satisfying to see the team get up to speed. As for me, I can take confidence from the goals I've scored.

"I have a good feeling. I feel fine. The only thing missing is to play matches regularly. With the games we've got coming up, my body will adapt to the competitive rhythm quickly."

Falcao signed for Monaco for an estimated €60 million in 2013 but he has so far failed to rediscover his top form since suffering a cruciate ligament injury in January 2014.

The former Porto and River Plate player said last month that he would like to finish the new season as the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1.
