Arsene Wenger: Late Arsenal winner against Burnley was 'a dodgy goal'

LONDON -- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said his side's late winner at Burnley in October was "a dodgy goal."

Wenger, preparing to take on the Clarets in the return game at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, said the match may have been the one in which the Gunners had been "most lucky."

Arsenal came away from Turf Moor with a 1-0 victory when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's shot deflected in off Laurent Koscielny's hand in stoppage time.

Wenger said after the game he had not seen whether it was a handball, but speaking at a news conference on Friday he admitted: "It was the game where maybe we have been the most lucky, because the goal was a dodgy goal.

"Koscielny touched the ball with his hand."

Burnley are 10th in the Premier League, and Wenger said: "I came out of the game thinking they will not go down because they have a spirit and an organisation and they have strong points there.

"They say: 'OK, from the start of the game you'll have the ball, but we might try to kill you at some stage.' You need a special spirit to do that.

"Once you have 10 years in the Premier League, you have the pressure to do a bit more. In the first year, everybody accepts you will do that and that makes them dangerous because they are good at it and they accept it all together. That makes it efficient."

Wenger said Santi Cazorla, currently sidelined with injury, had been the main reason his side had not faltered at Burnley.

"We kept our way, we didn't panic," he said. "Santi Cazorla in that game was very influential in keeping it going.

"That's one of his strengths. When you have him and Ozil together, they create that buildup and patience because they have the experience to do it, and that certainly allowed us to win the game."
