Argentina's Lucas Biglia set to miss Copa America with muscle tear

Lucas Biglia is set to miss the Copa America Centenario after suffering a muscle tear in his left adductor, the latest in a series of injuries to Argentina's midfielders.

Biglia, who scored six goals in all compeitions for Lazio this season, will be replaced on the squad by the uncapped Guido Pizarro of Mexican club Tigres if his condition does not improve by the weekend, according to reports.

PSG's Javier Pastore and Ezequiel Lavezzi of Hebei China Fortune are also set to miss Argentina's opener against Chile with muscle tears of their own, while Tottenham's Erik Lamela is also a doubt while dealing with a sore right ankle.

They are unlikely to face Chile on Monday in Santa Clara, California, though Argentina will hope they can recover in time to face Panama on June 10.

Superstar Lionel Messi also remains a question mark after suffering a back injury against Honduras last week, though the team reported his health had improved before he flew to Spain to testify in his tax evasion trial. He is expected to return to the squad on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Matias Kranevitter and Augusto Fernandez trained with Argentina for the first time on Tuesday after arriving to training camp late.

Fernandez could be in line to replace Biglia in the starting XI if the Lazio man is ruled out.
