Ghana, Zimbabwe and Guinea-Bissau book African Nations Cup spots

Ghana and Zimbabwe booked their place at the African Nations Cup thanks to victories on Sunday, while Guinea-Bissau will join them due to Congo's 2-1 defeat against Kenya.

Ghana beat Mauritius 2-0 with goals late in the second-half from Andre Ayew and Christian Atsu giving Avram Grant's Black Stars the result they needed to progress from Group H.

And Zimbabwe's 3-0 win against Malawi, courtesy of goals from Knowledge Musona, Khama Billiat and Cuthbert Malajila, means they cannot be caught in Group L by Swaziland, who beat Guinea 1-0, on head-to-head results.

Elsewhere, Group B is very much still up for grabs with DR Congo and Central African Republic vying for top spot after emphatic wins.

DR Congo ran out 6-1 winners at Madagascar with Cedric Bakambu (2) and Yannick Bolasie among the scorers giving them a two-point lead at the top of the group with one round of games remaining. Central African Republic, meanwhile, beat Angola 3-1.

Group A is much the same. Following Liberia's 2-2 draw with Togo the Lone Stars are level on 10 points with Tunisia, while third-placed Togo are only two behind on eight.

Group D will also be decided in the final round of games after Burkina Faso's 1-0 win at Comoros put them level on points with Uganda.

In Group J, Ethiopia ran out 2-1 winners against Lesotho to consolidate second place but they cannot catch Algeria.

Benin's qualifying fixture against Equatorial Guinea has been rescheduled for June 12 on the condition elections for a new Benin Football Federation Executive Committee take place on or before June 11.
