Luiz Felipe Scolari won't change Guangzhou Evergrande defence

Guangzhou Evergrande coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has said he will not make wholesale changes to his side's defence against Japan's Kawasaki Frontale in the Asian Champions League.

Evergrande were held to a 2-2 draw by Suwon Bluewings in their last game in the competition, with both the South Korean side's goals the result of poor defending at corners.

But as they reach the halfway mark in the group stage of the continental club championship, Scolari told reporters: "It is not realistic for me to completely change the style of our defence.

"All I've got are these players. I understand that there will be mistakes even in the strongest defence.

"Yesterday I gathered players together and discussed our tactics on defending set pieces. Today we will train on different positions.

"You can see when we make one or two mistakes in a game, but we have done well on another 50 occasions."

Scolari, who saw his side defeated by Shandong Luneng in the Chinese Super League on Friday, has captain Zheng Zhi available after suspension.

Guangzhou sit top of Group G, two points clear of both Kawasaki and Suwon, who have drawn their first two games.

But Scolari said he would be wary of Kawasaki, explaining: "Overall this team's defence is not so strong, but they are good at passing the ball.

"They are an old power in Japan, so we can imagine the possible difficulties that we may face. But we plan to focus on ourselves and win the game."
