Harry Arter to sign four-year deal to remain at Bournemouth

Harry Arter has signed a new four-year contract at Bournemouth.

The midfielder has committed his future to the Cherries until 2021, the club have announced.

Arter only signed a fresh three-year deal last summer following the club's first season in the Premier League.

The 27-year-old, who joined from Woking in 2010, told the club's official site: "Once I heard the club wanted to give me a new deal, it was a pretty easy decision.

"The team has been successful over the last few years and you want to be part of somewhere that is continually progressing.

The Republic of Ireland international has made 239 appearance for the Cherries with 35 coming in the top flight last season as Bournemouth finished ninth.

Boss Eddie Howe added: "Harry has been such an important player for us over a long period of time.''

Meanwhile, Bournemouth will progress with their plan to build a new ground near their current home.

The Cherries will look to redevelop Kings Park, which already includes the club's training pitches and an athletics stadium.

The club want to move from the Vitality Stadium, which holds around 11,500, in 2020.

Chief executive Neill Blake told their official site: "Our preferred site to build the club's new stadium is in Kings Park.

"There is still a long way to go in this process but we have overcome one of the biggest obstacles in identifying the area that we want to develop.''
